　現地時間2017年10月1日、米ネバダ州ラスベガスにて開催されていたカントリー・ミュージック・フェス【Route 91 Harvest Festival】の会場で、少なくとも59人が死亡、500人以上が負傷した銃乱射事件が起こった。容疑者は、ジェイソン・アルディーンがパフォーマンスを行っている際に、フェス会場の向かいに位置するマンダレイ・ベイ・リゾート＆カジノの32階から銃を乱射したとみられている。米メディアは、個別の乱射事件での死者数が全米史上最多と報道している。

　この事件を受け、ジャスティン・ビーバー、テイラー・スウィフト、レディー・ガガ、リアーナ、ハリー・スタイルズ、エアロスミス、ザ・ウィークエンド、ショーン・メンデスら数多くのアーティストたちがSNSで追悼コメントをしている。合わせて、スティーヴ・アオキやホールジーなどは献血を呼びかけている。
